Tayrona National Park | Caribbean Coast - Colombia

Tayrona National Park is located in the Colombian Caribbean, in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, with an extension of 150km2.

It is the perfect destination for an ecotourism trip! In this Nature Reserve you can find beautiful virgin beaches, archaeological zones, waterfalls, among other things, and also an impressive amount of flora and fauna.

The route begins with "El Zaíno", the park's main entrance, where tickets to the park are purchased. From there you take a small bus that takes you to the entrance of the trail. From there we started the excursion of approximately an hour and a half on well-marked trails with the final goal: Cabo San Juan de Guía. On the way you can find forest, coast and virgin beaches. It is best to continue on the indicated path and go only to the beaches where access is allowed. Towards the end you will find the best beaches and views!

The park is a nature reserve but you can also find services to stay within the park for several days. You can choose between tents and hammocks or even an ecolodges hotel with swimming pools and spectacular views. We decided to take a day trip, we had to choose only a small part of the park to visit. To make the most of the day, we enter first thing in the morning and leave at the closing time of the park, at 5pm.

If you are not able to walk an hour and a half to go to Cabo San Juan de Guía, they also offer transportation by horse. You can also find several points where you can camp, shower and eat.
